Features & Capabilities
Can it handle our supply chain and suppliers?
Yes. CarbonSig includes Carbon Attested Products (CAPs), a feature that enables secure sharing and receiving of verified emissions data with suppliers and customers, facilitating supply chain collaboration.
What is a Carbon Attested Product (CAP)?
A Carbon Attested Product (CAP) is a verified carbon footprint declaration for a specific product or service that can be securely shared within the CarbonSig network. CAPs enable transparent, verified emissions data exchange between organizations, eliminating the need for repeated data requests and enabling efficient supply chain carbon accounting. Each CAP includes detailed emission information, data sources, and verification status.
What databases do you use for emissions factors?
CarbonSig integrates with major global databases including Ecoinvent, IPCC, and US EPA, providing access to accurate and recognized emissions factors.
What is the Reference Data Library?
The Reference Data Library is CarbonSig's centralized repository of emission factors, conversion factors, and reference data from globally recognized sources. It provides instant access to thousands of verified emission factors, eliminating the need to manually search multiple databases. The library is regularly updated to reflect the latest scientific data and regional variations.
Can we create custom emission factors?
Yes. While CarbonSig provides access to comprehensive global databases, you can also create and manage custom emission factors based on supplier-specific data, internal measurements, or region-specific information. Custom factors can be documented with supporting information and made available for use across your organization.
Can we generate reports for customers and auditors?
Yes. CarbonSig generates professional carbon footprint reports that can be shared with customers, auditors, or used for certifications. You maintain full control over what information is shared and with whom.
What types of reports can CarbonSig generate?
CarbonSig generates various report types including:
- Product-level carbon footprint reports (Product Carbon Footprints/PCFs)
- Supplier carbon data summaries
- Custom reports tailored to customer or regulatory requirements
- Trend analysis and progress reports
- Export-ready formats for regulatory submissions
Does it work for my industry?
CarbonSig is designed to work across multiple industries including manufacturing, services, retail, and logistics. Our AI adapts to your specific processes and products regardless of sector.
Does CarbonSig support multi-location or multi-facility tracking?
Yes. CarbonSig is designed to manage carbon data across multiple locations, facilities, and organizational units. You can track emissions at individual facility levels while also viewing consolidated organizational data, making it suitable for companies with complex, distributed operations.
Can we set user permissions and access controls?
Yes. CarbonSig includes granular permission and access control systems, allowing you to define who can view, edit, or approve data at different organizational levels. This ensures data security and supports appropriate governance structures.
Does CarbonSig integrate with our existing ERP/accounting software?
CarbonSig offers integration capabilities with common ERP and business systems. Integration options vary depending on your specific software platforms. Contact our team to discuss your integration requirements and available options.
How do we invite suppliers to share their emissions data?
CarbonSig offers two approaches for working with supplier data:
- Option 1: Direct supplier collaboration through CarbonSig You can invite suppliers directly through the Relations tab in your account. When you send an invitation, your supplier will be prompted to create their own CarbonSig account. Once onboarded, they can share emissions data with you through Carbon Attested Products (CAPs) or simplified data forms, creating a streamlined, traceable data exchange within the platform.
- Option 2: Manual data entry If your suppliers provide emissions data outside of CarbonSig (via email, spreadsheets, or other formats), you'll need to manually add this information to your carbon accounting processes. This gives you flexibility to work with suppliers regardless of their preferred data-sharing method.
What if our suppliers don't use CarbonSig?
Your suppliers don't need CarbonSig accounts to support your carbon accounting:
- Manual data entry: You can manually input emissions data that your suppliers provide externally (via emails, spreadsheets, PDFs, etc.) into your carbon accounting workflows
- Industry-average data: When supplier-specific data is unavailable, you can use emission factors from our Reference Data Library, then upgrade to actual supplier data as it becomes available over time
- Future collaboration: You always have the option to invite suppliers to join CarbonSig later through the Relations tab, which would enable automated data sharing and improve data quality and traceability
This flexibility ensures you can begin carbon accounting immediately, regardless of your suppliers' current capabilities.
Can we manage multiple supplier relationships in one place?
Yes. CarbonSig includes supplier management features that enable you to track multiple supplier relationships, manage data requests, monitor response status, and maintain an organized record of all supplier-provided emissions data in one centralized location.
How does data verification work for supplier-provided information?
Carbon Attested Products (CAPs) include verification status indicators showing data quality and source documentation. You can review supporting documentation, data sources, and calculation methodologies. For critical suppliers, you may request additional verification or third-party audits. The platform maintains an audit trail of all data sources and changes.
